The Boone Toreaders baseball team took down Clear Lake in their playoff opening win in Boone last week.

Toreadors baseball closed out the regular season with a convincing 11-1 win over the Winterset Huskies. They then opened up playoff baseball with a tough 8-6 win over the Clear Lake Lions.

Their game against the Huskies was relatively tame to begin, as the Toreadors led just 2-1 after the first inning. Boone was explosive in the bottom of the third inning, plating nine runs and sprinting away with the game. The Toreadors batted .500 as a team, going 11-for-22 at the plate.

Tyce Carlson was a monster at the plate with three hits and five RBIs. Noah Davies and Levi Behn had two hits apiece. Richard Lennon IV and Ryan Bowers each had one hit and two RBIs, and Landon Youngblood and Noah Gorman each had one hit and one RBI. Three pitchers took the mound: Connor Scoggins was credited with the win, allowing two hits and one run, striking out five batters; Landon Youngblood allowed no hits and one run, striking out two batters; and Levi Behn allowed no hits and no runs, striking out one batter.

Then, the Toreadors welcomed the Clear Lake Lions to Boone Memorial Park to open up the postseason. The entire scoring output from Boone came in the first two innings, with a three-run first inning and a five-run second inning. Clear Lake scored five runs over the course of the first two innings and their final run in the seventh inning.

Tyler Carlson was a leader again, smacking three hits and driving in two runs. Noah Gorman had two hits and one RBI. Ryan Bowers had one hit and three RBIs; Noah Davies had one hit; and Landon Youngblood had one RBI. Two pitchers took the mound: Levi Behn was credited with the win, allowing seven hits and one run, striking out two batters, and Connor Scoggins allowed five hits and five runs, striking out two batters.

With their win, the Toreadors were slated to face an extremely familiar opponent, the Ballard Bombers. Boone dropped both contests to the Bombers this year by scores of 9-1 and 6-4.

The Toreadors were slated to face Ballard on Monday.
