The Boone Toreadors softball team had a bit of an up-and-down week on the field last week. 

Boone softball registered losses to the top-ranked ADM Tigers, 7-3 and 3-0, and a 9-7 loss to the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays. The Toreadors picked up wins over Nevada 12-1 and Perry 14-1. 

In their 7-3 loss, ADM struck first with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. After a scoreless fourth inning, Boone responded with one run in the top of the fifth inning, before ADM added four more of their own in the bottom of the fifth. No more runs were scored until Boone attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh with two runs, but fell short.

Kaylee Kuehl led the team with two hits and one RBI. Finley Houser added one hit. Kaylee Kuehl took the loss pitching, allowing eight hits and six runs, striking out five batters. Brooke Weisbrod allowed one hit and no runs, striking out one batter.

In their 3-0 loss, Boone was unable to get anything going offensively, and the Toreadors were shut out for just the third time this year.

Kaylee Kuehl registered the team’s only hit. Tenley Williams pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and three runs.

In their win over Nevada, the Toreadors took just three innings to score 12 runs with a six-run first, a one-run second, and a five-run third. The Toreadors were dynamite from the plate, registering six hits in 14 at-bats. They had a whopping 11 RBIs off of those hits.

Hailee Bingham, Gracie Vodenik, Harper Kuehl, and Hadley Gustafson had one hit and two RBIs apiece. Halle Bailey and Noell Davidson had one hit and one RBI apiece, and Kaylee Kuehl had one RBI. Brooke Weisbrod pitched a complete game, earning the win, allowing one hit and one run, striking out four batters.

Against the Bluejays, the Toreadors never gave up. They went down big after the first inning, trailing 5-0, but slowly chipped away at the lead all game, and took a big bite out of the lead with a five-run fourth inning, but could never quite get over the hump.

Tenley Williams led the team with three hits and three RBIs. Abigail Leu and Halle Bailey had one hit and one RBI apiece. Claire Hardinger, Brooke Weisbrod, and Finley Houser had one hit apiece. Three pitchers took the circle: Tenley Williams was credited with the loss, allowing five hits and five runs; Brooke Weisbrod allowed five hits and two runs, striking out two batters; and Kaylee Kuehl allowed one hit and two runs, striking out one batter.

Halle Bailey had three hits and two RBIs; Hailee Bingham and Claire Hardinger had two hits and one RBI apiece; Kaylee Kuehl had one hit, which was a home run, and three RBIs; Noell Davidson had one hit, which was a home run, and two RBIs; Gracie Vodenik and Hadley Gustafson had one hit and one RBI apiece; and Harper Kuehl had one hit. Tenley Williams pitched a complete game, earning the win, allowing two hits and one run, striking out three batters.

This week, the Toreadors were expected to conclude their regular season with a showdown against the Winterste Huskies on Monday. 

Then, the Toreadors were expected to begin their postseason journey by hosting the Carroll Tigers at Gary Creasman Field. The Toreadors and Tigers just met in a doubleheader tilt back on June 22, with the Toreadors taking both games, 10-1 and 10-2.
